Birgit Eichinger Winery Salzburger Festival Wine Gr. Veltliner Wechselberg 2018

From hundreds of submitted white wines, this fine vineyard Veltliner was selected by Birigt Eichinger for this year's festival wine of the Salzburg Festival. The design of the label is decorated by figurines of the costume designer Victoria Behr, who designs the costumes for the new production of Jacques Offenbach's opera "Orphée aux enfers".

The Wechselberg rises on the eastern side of the Strassertal and faces south. The soils are weathered soils of Bohemian slate. Due to the height of the Wechselberg, the nights bring a cooling of the hot summer air. This ensures an excellent expansion of flavours. Fine, fragrant classic with vegetal spiciness, minty-peppery coolness, ripe pomaceous fruit; calm flowing on the palate, permeated by fine minerality, perfect balance and a nice punch in the finale. Always ready for the next sip.

It fits many spicy foods and can be matured for several years. But who can store this excellent wine if it seduces so much.
