Sponge gourds are known for producing the loofahs that are used in natural skin care. They are also suitable as natural household sponges. The unripe fruits are also edible and taste similar to zucchini. The fruits of this plant are true all-rounders that can be used in a variety of ways.
This cucumber prefers a sunny, warm location. Harvest the cucumber when its skin begins to turn brown and dry. Peel and dry the fruit immediately afterwards. Wash the dried sponges thoroughly under running water.
