This classic Mexican vegetable is the traditional basis for numerous dishes flavoured with chillies and cilantro. The fruits are similar to tomatoes, but are wrapped up in husks like Chinese lanterns and fall to the ground when they are ripe.

Tomatillos should be planted in a warm, protected location. They need rods as supports and growth aids.
