Buckwheat flour, also called Heidenmehl in Styria, is a gluten-free alternative to wheat flour. Buckwheat is naturally gluten-free as it is not a true cereal - it is a member of the knotweed family.
Buckwheat has many culinary uses. It is the star ingredient in the classic Styrian dish "Heidensterz".
Tip: Heidensterz tastes delicious with a hearty mushroom soup.
