SteirerReis Fuchs Hulled Buckwheat, 400 g

Hulled buckwheat is known as a regional superfood in Styria - and for good reason. The pseudo-cereal is rich in fibre, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, lecithin, B vitamins and protein. It has many culinary uses and can be served as a side or as a porridge.

Recipe: Buckwheat Patties

Buckwheat patties are a great addition to a meal. It is absolutely delicious and quick to prepare.

1. Add the desired amount of buckwheat (250 g) to twice the amount of water (500 ml) and a pinch of salt. Bring to the boil.
2. Simmer for 15-20 minutes and drain.
3. Meanwhile, finely dice an onion and a clove of garlic and sauté in a pan until translucent.
4. Finely grate your choice of vegetables such as zucchini, carrots or peppers.
5. Combine the buckwheat with the other ingredients and add 5 - 6 tablespoons of buckwheat flour. Season with salt and pepper. Optionally, add chopped fresh herbs of your choice.
6. Form into patties and fry on both sides in a pan in hot vegetable oil until golden brown.
