Easy Mother's Day Cake

Ingredients

Dough:

Filling:

  • 1 kg apples
  • 500ml milk
  • 500g cream
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 2 packets of custard powder (vanilla)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 50 g almond flakes
  • ½ lemon juice

Preparation:

  • Knead the flour, sugar, butter, egg and salt to form a smooth dough. Wrap in foil and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, peel the apples, remove the core and stems and cut into small pieces.
  • Sprinkle lemon juice over the apple pieces.
  • For the filling - mix 400 ml milk with the cream and sugar and bring to a boil.
  • Mix the custard powder with the remaining cold milk and stir into the boiling milk and cream mixture.
  • Take a few tablespoons of the hot custard and add it to the egg yolks in a separate bowl. Mix thoroughly and add back to the hot pudding. Mix well.
  • Grease a cake tin and preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Knead the dough again, roll it out evenly and then press it into the cake tin so that you can pull the dough over the edges.
  • Prick the dough with a fork all over and place the apple pieces on top.
  • Spread the custard cream over the apple pieces and sprinkle with almond flakes as desired.
  • Bake for about 50 minutes until golden brown.

Tip: Decorate the cake with edible flowers and icing sugar!
