Weingut Krispel Weißburgunder Straden 2019

This Weissburgunder Straden is a strong representative of Austrian village wines. The grapes come exclusively from the town of Straden in the southeast Styrian volcanic region and the wine is just as beautiful as the landscape.

Due to selective hand-picking of fully ripe grapes and ageing in wooden barrels, this wine has a lot of creaminess. This can be seen in the golden yellow, almost straw-like, colour. Nutty and fresh fruit on the nose. On the palate, it's full-bodied with nice acidity. Immediately evokes joy and surprise. Is multi-layered and awakens new taste nuances. Yellow pear, dry, juicy mango, firm minerality (from volcanic rock) and a very long, harmonious finish. It lingers on the palate.

It’s an incredible amount of wine for very little money. Pairs well with hearty dishes such as truffle risotto or porcini mushrooms. The perfect combination, however, is juicy, dark-baked fried chicken with potato salad and pumpkin seed oil. A dream team!
