Description
PIWI (mushroom-resistant) varietals are on the rise. The Cabernet Blanc grape was approved as a Qualitätswein in Austria last year. It is an interspecies cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Regent, and was bred in Switzerland in 1991.
In addition to the PIWI Muscaris and Souvignier Gris grapes, Josef Scharl has dedicated himself to Cabernet Blanc for 2 years and was the instant winner of the 2020 wine competition!
This dry white wine is rather light and fruity and can be quite similar to a Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling. It was developed in the classic way in steel tanks and smells of gooseberries and currants. A bit of spice and firm with pleasant acidity. Juicy on the palate, with a neat pull to the glass. Wonderful drinking pleasure!
