With every pasture, but also over straw and hay, horses constantly ingest sand and earth while eating. Small amounts are excreted naturally from the intestine independently and without further problems. Larger amounts, however, place a heavy load on the intestines and can lead to diarrhoea, constipation, constipation and even severe colic.

The highly swellable peel of psyllium has a particularly high mucous content, which, among other things, absorbs sand, earth, toxins and bacteria in the intestine and then safely transported away, through faeces. This is how flea seeds support the healthy functioning of the intestines.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD YOU KNOW:
It is usually not easy for a horse owner to determine whether the horse's intestinal tract is contaminated with too much sand and soil. Here the veterinarian Dr. Faulstich from the Brandenburg Equine Clinic carried out a simple but very effective self-test.
Pick up 6 fresh horse droppings from a pile and stir/shake in half a litre of water until the apples are completely dissolved in the water. Then wait briefly so that the sand can sink to the bottom. Carefully pour off the water. The result of the test should definitely not show more than the amount of a normal tablespoon of sand.
