Description

Enjoy a fresh, homemade loaf of aromatic farmer's bread with the Bauernbrot baking mix by Berghofer Mühle - deliciously crusty bread made with the finest ingredients! Freshly ground flour and a recipe that is free from preservatives and artificial flavours are the secret behind the authentic taste.

Fresh ingredients needed for preparation in addition to the baking mix:
9 g dry yeast or ½ cube of fresh yeast, about 465 g lukewarm water

Preparation:

  • Stir the yeast into 465 g of lukewarm water in a bowl
  • Add the baking mix and mix briefly
  • Food processor: knead for 7 – 10 min
  • Place the dough on a floured work surface, cover and leave to rest at room temperature for around 45 minutes
  • After the resting time, shape the bread dough into a round or oval shape and transfer to a floured proofing basket
  • Cover the dough and let it rise again for about 30 minutes
  • Preheat the oven well (convection 230 °C)
  • After the dough has risen for 3 minutes, turn the bread dough out onto the preheated baking tray or pizza stone and place in the oven
  • Immediately after, sprinkle water on the oven floor to generate steam
  • Bake for 10 minutes at 230°C. Reduce the temperature to 180 to 185°C and bake for a further 40-45 minutes
  • To test if it's done, tap on the bottom. If it sounds hollow it is ready
  • Let cool completely on a cooling rack and enjoy

One pack of the baking mix gives about 1kg of baked bread.
