Everyone knows them, everyone makes one or two New Year's resolutions. Many people see the beginning of the year as an opportunity to change something they have wanted to change for a long time. That's why, at the beginning of the year, resolutions and goals are set for the new year that are to be achieved in the following months.
But keeping these resolutions is often more difficult than initially thought.

The year will soon come to an end and during the contemplative Christmas season one has time to think about resolutions for the new year. But goals are often set too high. This leads to disappointment and you lose your motivation and desire.
We have a few tips and tricks to make it easier to achieve your New Year's resolutions.

Set SMART goals: Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timed.

  • Take small steps towards your goal (e.g. lose 1kg in 1 month, 10kg by the end of the year).
  • Set measurable goals to see success (e.g. 1kg in the next 3 weeks)
  • Set deadlines for your goals (e.g. lose 3kg in 3 months)
  • Share your resolutions with family and friends so that you can support each other, have fun doing activities together and especially make it harder to "cheat" ;)

Quit smoking
Many people resolve to quit smoking in the New Year, but it's harder than they initially think. Here are a few tips on how to make it easier:

  • Make a list of activities or tasks to do instead of smoking during your break
  • Find a partner with whom you can try to give up smoking. This way you can motivate & support each other.

Eat Healthily
Eating a wholesome and balanced diet is a big part of your well-being and health, so it is important to educate yourself about it and put a little more emphasis on it.

  • Reduce consumption of highly processed products and avoid fast food as often as possible.
  • Fruit & vegetables should be on the menu every day
  • Cookbooks and a weekly nutrition plan help to achieve nutritional goals.

Lose Weight
Exercise is not only the ideal balance to a stressful day at work, it is equally important for our health.

  • Set goals so that they can be achieved
  • Try out different sports activities with friends or a partner and find something that you enjoy
  • Drink plenty of water, because it satisfies your hunger and is crucial for your health and various bodily functions.

Reduce Stress
Everyday stress is hard to avoid, so find a balance in sports, a relaxing bath or a restorative walk in nature.

  • Schedule specific time for yourself in your weekly schedule
  • Schedule time with family & friends to do things together as well

Drink Less Alcohol

Alcohol can become addictive and damaging to your health if consumed regularly, so try to reduce your consumption as much as possible.

  • Keep only a small amount of alcohol at home so that you are not tempted
  • Drink only on special occasions and try to keep it to one glass
